Tuts by j0eswife

Rac's Twilight Girl

Supplies

Scrapkit of choice - I used my own PTU kit “Look After My Heart”. But, you can do a variation of this tut by using my freebie sampler, available on my blog. If you’re interested in purchasing the kit, visit Digital Chaos or Stargazer Scraps.

Scraps needed: 2 papers, frame, doodle / fairy dust

Tube or Image of choice – I am using an awesome customizable tube by Ismael Rac, www.xeracx.com. You can purchase his new tubes at AMI. Do not use his work unless you have purchased it through a licensing company.

Font of choice – I am using Twilight, use any font you like.

Mask of choice – I am using Monti’s blinds mask, you can download it from her site - http://www.montispixelplayground.com/Masks.html

This tutorial is written using PSP X2, but should be easy to do on other versions. It is written assuming you have a general working knowledge of PSP.

Let's Go!

First, open a new canvas 500 x 500.

Flood fill the canvas white.

Copy and paste Paper 35 as a new layer.

Apply Monti’s blinds mask, using the settings below. (Layers>Load/Save Mask>Load Mask From Disk)

On your layers palette, right click on the Mask Layer. Choose Merge>Merge Group. Save your progress.

Open “Fairy Dust 1” and resize it to 45% (Shift+S). Copy and paste it onto your canvas (above your masked layer). (It will automatically paste it to the center of the canvas, leave it there).

Open “Paper 38” and copy and paste it as a new layer (above your fairy dust layer). Save your progress.

Optional – open “Drips 2”, resize it 50%, copy and paste it as a new layer, above your paper layer.

Copy and paste “Circle with Hearts Frame 1” as a new layer.

Using your magic wand tool (tolerance and feather set to 0, mode set to add, match mode set to none), click inside your frame (only the innermost circle).

Selections>Modify>Expand by 3 pixels.

Selections>Invert (CTRL+Shift+I)

Activate your Paper 38 layer and hit the Delete key on your keyboard.

If you added the Drips 2, activate that layer and hit the Delete key again.

Selections>None (CTRL+D). Save.

Open your Rac tube and customize it to your likings (duplicate it first so you aren’t working on the original tube). Resize it 80% and paste it onto your canvas as your top layer.

Move it up slightly, so that most of her head is above the inner circle of the frame.

Duplicate your tube layer and move one copy below your frame layer. Hide the lower tube layer.

On your top tube layer, erase everything from the neck down (everything that is inside or below the inner circle of the frame). See example below.

Unhide your lower tube layer.

Activate your frame layer.

Using your magic wand tool (tolerance and feather set to 0, mode set to add, match mode set to none), click inside your frame (only the innermost circle).

Selections>Modify>Expand by 3 pixels.

Selections>Invert (CTRL+Shift+I)

Activate your lower tube layer and hit the Delete key on your keyboard.

Selections>None (CTRL+D). Save.

On your layers palette, right-click on your top tube layer and choose Merge>Merge Down.

Right-click on the newly merged layer and choose Merge>Down. Save.

Add a drop shadow to this merged tube/frame layer. I used 0, 0, 65, 10, black. Save.

If you are going to resize the tag, do so now BEFORE you add your copyright info.

Add your copyright info/license number/tagger’s mark. Save.

Add your name or other text, save as .png file, and you are done!

(If you want to add a glitter effect to the fairy dust, while your tag is still in layers, follow the animation instructions HERE)
