Another Mosaic Forum Set

Supplies

No scraps for this one! Just an image and a couple of free filters J

Image of choice – I am using a photo from Stock.XCHNG If you want to use the same image as me, it is here.

Font of choice – I am using “PC Antique”

Plug-Ins – Mura’s Meister: Copies. You can get it here http://www.photoshop-filters.com/html/mura.htm

 - Filter Factory Gallery C. You can get it here http://www.photoshop-filters.com/html/ff_gallery_c.htm (I’ve had trouble getting the Filter Factory filters to work. I found that importing them to Filters Unlimited 2.0 solved my problems.)

Here we go!

Begin by opening your image in PSP. Duplicate it, and minimize the original.

Working on the duplicated image, click on your crop tool. On the toolbar for the crop tool, set the height to 250 and the width to your desired size for your finished tag. I am using a width of 600.

You should now have a 250x600 (or whatever size you chose) box on your image. Move the box around to select the portion of the image you want to use for your tag base. Once you have the box where you want it, click “Apply” (In PSPX2 this is a green circle with a checkmark in it).

On your layers palette, right click and choose “Promote background layer.”

Apply Filter Factory C>Speed, using the default settings. (187, 81, 27, 225). Save your progress.

Next, Effects>Texture Effects>Mosaic Antique. Use Grid Settings: 38, 38; Tile Diffusion: 100; Grout Width: 1; Grout Diffusion: 45. Save your progress.

Now, go back to your original image. Resize it to a height of 250 pixels. (Image>Resize, be sure that “Lock aspect ratio” is checked).S

On the resized image – Image>Add borders – Add a 5 pixel border (Symmetric checked) in the color of your choice.

Copy the resized image and paste it onto your other canvas (the one we applied the filters to). Now, duplicate this new layer.

On the duplicated layer – Image>Free Rotate: 25 degrees (left or right, your choice J)(be sure “All layers” is UNchecked).

Move the rotated image to one side of your tag. Save your progress.

Add a drop shadow - I used 0, 0, 100, 15, black. Hide this layer for now.

On the original resized image layer, Image>Resize 80% (be sure “Resize all layers is UNchecked).

Apply Mura’s Meister Copies – setting “Cards,” but change the settings to:

Number: 7

Shift X: 0

Shift Y: 5

Angle: 5

Rotation: 60

Phase: -40

Cycle: 30

Attenuation: 0

Scale: 100

Tile Gap: 0

Thru BG Range: 0

Thru BG Smooth: 30

Fade Out: 0

(You can play with the settings if you want J)

Move the Mura’s layer to the side of your canvas (the opposite side from your rotated image layer).

Copy this layer and paste as a new image (this will be used for your avatar). Minimize this canvas for now.

Go back to your tag canvas and lower the opacity of the Mura’s layer to 75%. Save.

Unhide your rotated image layer.

Add a new raster layer (it should be your top layer).

Selections>Select All (or CTRL+A); Selections>Modify>Contract by 5; Selections>Invert (or CTRL+SHIFT+I)

Flood fill your selection with the same color you used when you added borders to your original image.

Selections>None (or CTRL+D). Save.

On your border layer, add the same drop shadow as before.

Now add your copyright info, license number (if applicable), and tagger’s mark (if you use one). Save

Finally, add your name. I am using font “PC Antique”. If you like, you can add a gradient glow using Eye Candy.

Add a drop shadow of choice to your name. I used 5, 5, 50, 5, black.

Save as a .png file and you’re done with your tag!

For your avatar – go back to the Mura’s image that you pasted as a new image.

Add the same drop shadow we used earlier.

Image>Resize so that the largest size is 150 pixels, be sure that “Resize all layers is CHECKED”.

Sharpen if necessary (Image>Adjust>Sharpen).

Add your copyright info and your name, and you’re done with your avatar!
